Myconeos is a fungal biotechnology company with expertise in the generation of novel strains and strain improvement of filamentous fungi. This primarily involves the use of natural sexual crossing to breed new fungi.

ABOUT MYCONEOS

Our technology is particularly applicable to the food and aggro-tech industries where genetic modification techniques are not allowed or resisted. The food space is the primary company focus where particular opportunities exist in generating novel and improved cultures for dairy use, mycoprotein applications and producing new functional ingredients (e.g. colours, flavours, nutritionally active ingredients etc.).

THE CANDIDATE

The Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) will be responsible for leading the commercial strategy, planning, and execution for Myconeos. This key executive role requires a deep understanding of the dairy and wider food sector and biotech landscape, extensive experience in product launch, commercialization, market access, and sales strategy development. The CCO will work closely with the CEO and CTO to establish and execute commercial priorities that align with the company’s long-term goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and Implement Commercial Strategy: Drive the development of an integrated commercial strategy, encompassing product launch planning, sales, marketing, and market access strategies to maximise market penetration and revenue growth.

Product Launch Leadership: Oversee the planning and execution of successful product launches, including market analysis, pricing, positioning, branding, and distribution strategies.

Market Access & Pricing: Establish strategies for market access and reimbursement, collaborating with payers, regulatory bodies, and key opinion leaders to ensure patient access to our innovative products.

Revenue & Profit Growth: Own responsibility for revenue and margin targets, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic financial objectives.

Sales & Marketing Leadership: Work with our sales teams. Establish key metrics for sales and marketing performance, adjusting strategies as needed to ensure targets are met.

Content creation: Developing and delivering social media content marketing plans, creating engaging content, and publishing content across social media platforms

Community management: Across social media platforms, and liaising with internal stakeholders on community management issues

Brand consistency: Overseeing brand consistency, and ensuring brand compliance .

Business Development: Partner with business development Individuals to identify and evaluate new opportunities for growth through partnerships, licensing, and new product introductions.

Customer & Market Insights: Drive a customer-centric approach, utilising data-driven insights to understand market dynamics, competitor strategies, and customer needs to inform commercial decision-making.

Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D team to ensure alignment across all functions and drive an integrated approach to product development and commercialisation.

Leadership & Vision: Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, contributing to the overall company strategy, culture, and vision.

REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required; an advanced degree is strongly preferred.

5+ years of progressive commercial experience in the biotech or tech sales in food and ingredients, with a track record of success in product launches, sales growth, and market access.

Strong strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate vision into actionable, results-driven strategies.

Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performance teams, including sales, marketing, and market access functions.

Comprehensive knowledge of biotech market dynamics, including regulatory requirements, payer landscapes, and healthcare economics.

Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all organisational levels.

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Entrepreneurial mindset with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.

  • Current and clean driver’s licence.
